Free junior deer hunting licenses available to young hunters Sept. 12-13, courtesy of Meijer
Young hunters, ages 16 and under, will once again have the opportunity to get a free junior deer hunting license at all Meijer stores in Michigan on Sept. 12 and 13.
Youths must be accompanied by an adult, and should print out and bring the free junior hunting license coupon or mPerks digital coupon to the store’s sporting goods department.
Due to changes in Michigan’s hunting license structure, this offer is slightly different than in previous years. The coupon is valid for a single junior deer hunting license, a $20 value, or mentored youth hunting license ($7.50 value, base license included). Those who hunt in Michigan must also purchase a base license, which costs $6 for youth ages 10-16. The base license allows hunters to hunt small game and purchase additional hunting licenses. The mentored youth hunting license, valid only for hunters under the age of 10, includes a base license and does not require separate purchase of the base license.
Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer has offered youth hunters free deer hunting licenses since 2008. To find a Meijer store location, visit
