OTG: Gladwin GEMS (Convention)
On Friday, June 22, twenty seven volunteers kicked of MUCC’s Annual Convention by gathering at Lame Duck Foot Access Trail in Gladwin, MI to build two board walks. These structures will aid recreational users and hunters alike in navigating the wet, lowland soils of this Grouse Enhanced Management Site (GEMS).
Partners from Michigan United Conservation Clubs, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ruffed Grouse Society, National Wildlife Federation, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Quality Deer Management Association and Michigan Trapper and Predator Callers rallied together to accomplish this project under the direction of DNR Wildlife Biologist Bruce Barlow.
After the project was finished, volunteers enjoyed a cook-out style lunch in the field and had a chance to enjoy the camaraderie before the business of the Annual Convention ensued.
