THE OPENER: HAVE A SAY IN WHAT WE DO!

“What have you done for me lately?” It’s a question I used to get every once in a while from an MUCC member (or former member, more often) when I first started working for MUCC in 2007. The policy team here at MUCC really takes that to heart and we hope that you see exactly what we are up to by reading our blogs, the weekly Conservation Insider, Michigan OutofDoors Magazine or engaging with us on Twitter or Facebook. We are your advocates—at the Capitol, at the NRC meetings, with the departments, and even in the court system—conserving, protecting and enhancing Michigan’s natural resources and our outdoor heritage.
And as members of a truly one-of-a-kind grassroots organization, MUCC members have a direct say in what we say and do while we are advocating on your behalf. Here’s how!

Gearing Up for 2015 Policy Resolutions
MUCC’s Annual Regional Meetings are coming up in February and this is your chance to help set MUCC’s policies and priorities. Get your resolutions ready! MUCC’s membership establishes the organization’s policies and priorities each year at MUCC’s Annual Convention in June through resolutions that come from MUCC members, clubs, districts, regions or board of directors. The regional meetings are the one place that MUCC’s members, clubs, and districts can bring forth resolutions that may go on to MUCC’s Annual Convention. The locations and times are below.
If you are interested in writing a resolution and are looking for an example, check out the policies that were passed at the 2014 Annual Convention (https://mucc.org/home/policy/adopted-resolutions/) and visit the Policy section of our website (https://mucc.org/home/policy/policy-and-advocacy/policy-setting-process/) for more information on the policy setting process and the Resolution Guide.
If you want to know if we have past policy on a specific issue or need assistance with research, please contact Senior Resource Policy Manager Amy Trotter at atrotter@mucc.org or 517-346-6484.
We hope you will consider participating in both the resolution setting process and the MUCC Annual Convention this year.
